Course summary

Performing Arts is an exciting course, which focuses largely on you as a performer. You will develop your personal skills as a performer, working as a member of a performance company on a number of practical projects, alongside which you will research and report on aspects of the Performing Arts as a career path. USEFUL SKILLS & INTEREST • A natural ability in acting, design or technical theatre where we can develop your existing skills in these areas. • The ability to keep ongoing, accurate and evaluative records of practical work. • The confidence to read aloud in front of large groups. • The confidence to participate in group practical work. COURSE STRUCTURE & CONTENT You will work intensively to develop one area of skills associated with performing. You will need to keep an accurate record of your working process and the development of your chosen skills through detailed Actor’s Logs. You will undertake several performance projects in a range of styles, focussing mainly on Acting, but with the option to include Singing and/or Dance if these are your areas of interest and experience. You will produce a portfolio on one particular Career Path in the Performing Arts, considering training requirements, employment opportunities and the skills required to make a success of that career. You will consider the influence of important Practitioners in the History of Theatre, and will practically explore their ideas in workshops and practical projects. As well as working in the classroom you will also get to enjoy trips to the theatre, workshops with visiting professionals, and the use of a highly equipped professional theatre studio.
