Course summary

By studying literature, you will become an expert at reading and responding to a wide variety of texts, interpreting, analyzing, gathering and assessing evidence, and working independently and creatively. In the world beyond school, especially at work, we are bombarded with texts. The skills that you will learn, including those of powerful and effective communication, are highly valued by employers.

Entry requirements

Students who have a proven ability and achieved a Grade 6 or higher at GCSE English Language or English Literature will obviously be at an advantage. Those who have achieved a Grade 5 at GCSE Level should take into consideration whether they have the aptitude to cope with the demands of the course. This is something students should discuss with their English teacher. Students must be prepared to commit to at least one hour of supervised reading time per week.
