This is a new Mathematics Post-16 course that is designed for those who wish to study mathematics beyond GCSE level, but not to A-level standard. This is a two-year Level 3 course that produces a qualification equivalent to an AS level. It will support those students studying courses that require maths skills, as well as taking a practical look at how maths is used in the real world. WHAT WILL I BE LEARNING? Use of spreadsheets, collecting and processing data, financial maths, Fermi problems,analysing critically. HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT? You will consolidate and extend key skills from GCSE, as well as learning new ones. You will see real- world applications of these skills and discuss problems in groups/pairs. WHAT SKILLS WILL I DEVELOP? As well as further developing your mathematical knowledge and skills, you will improve your problem-solving skills, and communication of reasoning. You will also understand your payslip.
5 passes at grade 4 or above. GCSE grade 4 in Maths.
