For the Extended Project Qualification students work semi-independently on a Level 3 project on a topic that interests them. The final outcome can be either a dissertation (approx. 6000 words), an investigation, an artifact or a performance. The project develops the student’s ability to explore a subject or skill they are passionate about and helps to build more independent, reflective and critical learners by taking responsibility for a task. Qualities Required: Independence, resourcefulness, resilience and organizational skills to see the project through to completion Future Prospect: Universities value the EPQ as it prepares students for the demands of university assignments. It can form part of a university entrance offer.
Five GCSES at grades 9-5, which must include grade 9-5 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics.
100-120 hours of guided learning. Students are assessed on their ability to manage a project, use resources, develop/realize a project, and review the project. It is worth half an A level in terms of UCAS points.
