A level Linguistics (English Language) is a two-year linear course, offering the opportunity for students to develop their expertise by engaging creatively and critically with a wide range of texts and discourses. The course will appeal to students who enjoy thinking about how language can be used creatively throughout society and how language choice reveals the values, attitudes and purpose of the text producers. Students will be expected to develop a comprehensive critical linguistic vocabulary for deconstructing language and its usage
GCSE Grade 6 or above in English Language and English Literature.
80% of assessment is through examination (2 x 2 hour written papers), taken at the end of the 2-year course, and 20% through coursework.
