In Year 12 you will study two units: Unit one: Human lifespan development Unit five Meeting individual care and support needs. In Year 13 you will go onto study a further two units: Unit two: Working in health and social care One other optional unit from: Sociological perspectives; psychological perspectives; additional needs or physiological disorders. The units provide students with the opportunity to practice and develop employability skills. Such as: Cognitive and problem-solving skills: use critical thinking, approach non-routine problems applying expert and creative solutions, use systems and technology. Intrapersonal skills: communicating, working collaboratively, negotiating and influencing, self-presentation. Interpersonal skills: self-management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and development.

Units Five and optional units are coursework based units and may take the form of written work, power points, presentations, role plays and posters. Which are internally assessed and then verified by other health and social care teachers. Units One and Two are externally assessed by the way of an examination. Unit one in Year 12 and unit two in Year 13.
