Students will complete 3 mandatory units that explore the Performing Arts industry: • Investigating Practitioners’ Work • Group Performance Workshop • Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance These units will include practical performances, research, coursework, and viewing live performances. Students will then undertake an optional unit that explores their area of expertise such as Contemporary Dance, Urban Dance, Jazz Dance, Ballet/Tap Dance, Contact Improvisation, or The Healthy Dancer. This unit will include practical lessons, rehearsals, performances, and coursework. Students can also develop their knowledge and understanding of other aspects of Performance such as Theatre, Comedy, Circus Skills, and Media about Dance.
A minimum of 5 grades at level 9-4 at GCSE level and/or BTEC Level 2 Pass. Grade 4 or above in English Language and Mathematics.
Two mandatory units are externally assessed, and the other mandatory unit and optional unit are both internally assessed through practical performances (live and recorded), presentations, and written coursework.
