Course summary

It is a varied and interesting course which allows you to explore and learn about Health and Social Care and the principles that underpin effective care in our society. You will build up a variety of skills and technical knowledge. It gives you the opportunity to develop a broad base of understanding of the Health and Social Care sector. If completed successfully, the course will give you an A level equivalent qualification which can count as UCAS points towards entry for higher education or you may choose to go into relevant care services in the Health and Social Care sector and gain further qualifications there. You will study a range of topics over the two years including: • Human Lifespan Development • Working in Health and Social Care • Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs • Psychological Perspectives

Entry requirements

• We have a minimum entry requirement of grade 4 in both Maths and English Language. Additional subject entry requirements for each subject are listed below. There may be some flexibility around these. • English can be either Literature or Language unless specifically stated. • At least a grade 4 in GCSE English. You do not have to have studied Health and Social Care previously although this is an advantage. If you have studied it at Level 2 you should have achieved a merit or above at this level

How you'll be assessed

Assessment will be through a combination of examination and internally and externally assessed coursework.
