If you are interested in how IT is used in the outside world and you want to learn about using software applications then you should take this course. You should have an interest in learning about how systems are used in an organisation as this will help you to develop and create your own systems for given scenarios. This qualification will allow you to learn about: key aspects of information & communication technology, the role of information system and their capabilities and limitations, the use of social media in today's world and in business, an awareness of the economic, social, and ethical implications of the use of IT, and developing an IT system. There will be a variety of learning methods, including: collaborative working with others, practical skills building, researching, using IT to produce a solution, and strategies to learn theoretical aspects of the units.

If you study the Extended Certificate you will be assessed on 4 units in total which consist of external and internal assessment. Two units are externally assessed in the form of written and practical exams. These consist of a range of short and long answer type questions and a task set by the exam board. Internal assessment will be assignment based and completed and assessed within school.
