English Literature will allow you to develop your interest in and appreciation of English literature through learning how to analyse and respond to prose, poetry, drama and critical texts. We explore a range of important and interesting themes that shed light of our own lives and the lives of those around us.
Students will need to have obtained at least 5 Grade 5s or above, including English and Maths. Plus subject specific criteria for each intended subject at A Level: English - at least a grade 6 at GCSE.
Students are assessed at the end of Year 13 in two examinations, each worth 40% of the full A-Level. A non-examined assessment (NEA), in which students compare themes from two books of their choice, is completed during Year 13 and is worth the final 20% of the overall grade.
