This course helps to develop mathematical skills and thinking and supports courses such as A-level Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Sciences, and Geography as well as technical and vocational qualifications. It is suitable for students who wish to continue studying mathematics after GCSE but who do not want to include mathematics as one of their three A-level choices. The course will run over two years alongside your three A-levels. Unit 1 Analysis of data; Maths for personal finance; Estimation. Unit 2 2B Critical path and risk analysis. There will be work examples and theory in lessons, followed by weekly assessments and practice exam questions. The department runs a drop-in class after school once a week for students to get help with their work as well as a lunchtime intervention class each week.
Two GCSE subjects at Grade 6 and four GCSE subjects at Grade 5 grades. Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics.
Paper 1 - 1 hour 30 minute written paper. 50% of total marks available. Paper 2 - 1 hour 30 minute written paper. 50% of total marks available.
