The subject provides opportunities for students to become visually and aesthetically literate. It allows you to be expressive in an imaginative and creative way, encouraging independence and building your self-confidence. You will be able to perceive, react, talk, analyse, judge and value Art. You will have an opportunity to explore a variety of mediums from paintings, photography to sculpture. In order to succeed at this level, students need a very high standard of skill in a variety of mediums and disciplines as well as an ability to analyse and research. There is a strong emphasis on realistic drawing in the new specs. Students who wish to specialise in Art & Design can progress onto a variety of university courses typically including Foundation Diplomas in Art & Design at UAL. Students wishing to progress to architecture may make direct applications to degree courses from this A level. Progression to university from A Level Fine Art is high.
