Biology is the study of living things, how they function and interact with each other and their surroundings. Every day experience gives us an insight and a general knowledge of biological issues. We all have an understanding of how our bodies work and of the animals and plants in the countryside around us. The A-Level Biology course gives us the detail required to understand these ideas in a more scientific and organised way.
General Entry Criteria: An APS (average GCSE point score) of greater than 4.5 drawn from all GCSE results (from a minimum of 6 entries) Either Maths Grade 4 and English Language or Literature Grade 4. Note: Only one BTEC or GCSE equivalent vocational course may be counted. ECDL or similar non-GCSE equivalent courses do not count for 6th Form entry. For Biology you will also require a Grade 7 in GCSE Biology or Grade 7/7 in Combined Science.
Paper 1: Biological Processes, 2 hour 15 min accounting for 37% A Level Paper 2: Biological diversity, 2 hour 15 minutes accounting for 37% A Level Paper 3: Unified biology, 1 hour 30 minutes accounting for 26% A level.
