Salters Horners A level Physics examined by Edexcel. Physics is about the study of how matter and energy behave in the known universe. In Y12 you will cover two units which include the topics: Waves, Electricity, Force and Motion, Properties of solids and Quantum effects. In Y13 you will study another two units which include the topics: Electromagnetism, Communications, Particle Physics and Space. Across both Y12 and Y13 you will carry out a wide range of practical activities to develop your investigative skills including planning, graph drawing and analysing results.
• For A Levels there is a minimum general entry requirement of 3 GCSE subjects at Grade 6 and 2 subjects at Grade 5. For each subject offered, a minimum of a Grade 5 in English Language or English Literature is required unless the subject specific requirements state otherwise. Please note, if you wish to study 4 A Level courses, Grade 7 is required in all GCSEs studied. (Further Mathematics requires a Grade 8). • For this subject you will need a minimum Grade 7 in Physics (separate science) or 77 (Double Award Science) and Grade 7 in Maths.
Throughout the two years there will be termly assessments and examinations. The three written public examinations will all take place at the end of Year 13. 16 core practicals are completed over the course to enable students to achieve their practical competency, this does not affect their overall grade, but is desired by many universities.
