A-level Physics is a challenging, rewarding course that aims to develop problem solving skills and application to a wide range of challenging content. A-level Physics builds on the concepts and investigation skills developed in the GCSE and it is particularly suitable for students who have the skills and knowledge associated with a GCSE Separate Science Course in Physics.
Grade 6 or above in GCSE Physics or Grade 6-6 or above in Combined Science with additional work in the summer holidays to catch up missed Physics content. Preferably a Grade 7. You must also be studying A Level Mathematics.
Paper 1 Topics 1 - 6.1, 2 hours, worth 34% Paper 2 Topics 1 - 8, 2 hours, worth 34% Paper 3 Practical assessment plus option (Astrophysics), 2 hours, worth 32% Practical endorsement (non-exam assessment) The accessible assessments allow students of various abilities to shine. Practical skills gained throughout the course via Core Practical completion are assessed within paper 3.
