If you enjoy the practical aspects of education and a creative approach to your learning, then Product Design might be the ideal course. Product Design is a course for creative and inquisitive minds. You will be able to express your thought processes through drawing and annotations. Your 2D designs will then come to life in the form of modelling, rapid prototyping and first generation product prototypes. Product Design encourages creative thinking leading to design innovation, by using authentic and contemporary design strategies and techniques that are centred around the iterative design processes of ‘explore/create/evaluate’. This prepares learners to become critical designers, engineers and consumers of the future. Product Design would suit an array of learning styles and students are expected to produce work using visual, kinaesthetic, and logical approaches, whilst the examinations and product study would demand good literacy and numeracy throughout. Design and Technology requires learners to apply mathematical skills and understand related science, both of which are assessed within the course content and exam.
