Our aims are to evaluate and analyse the social dynamics that exist within the wider society. We explore significant cultural movements and their impact on the individual, the community and the global village. To learn about political movements, e.g. Marxism and Feminism and how they have adapted over time and changed our perceptions. The course covers such issues such as culture and identity, the media, education and crime and deviance as well as looking at research methods undertaken in sociological research.
You should have achieved an Average Point Score across all your GCSE subjects of 4+.
The course is assessed by three written examinations at the end of Year 13. Paper 1: Education with Theory and Methods 2 hours 80 marks (33.3%) Paper 2: Topics (Culture and Identity and Media) 2 hours 80 marks (33.3%) Paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods 2 hours 80 marks (33.3%)
