A-level Further Mathematics is designed to broaden and deepen the mathematical knowledge and skills developed when studying A-level Maths. It is a challenging qualification and provides a chance to explore new and more sophisticated mathematical concepts. WHAT WILL I LEARN? AS Level Further Pure Proof, Complex numbers, Matrices, Further algebra and functions, Further calculus, further vectors, polar coordinates, Hyperbolic functions, Differential equations Decision Mathematics - Algorithms and graph theory, Algorithms on graphs, Algorithms on graphs II, Critical path analysis, Linear programming, Momentum and impulse, Collisions, Centres of mass, Work and energy, Elastic strings and springs Decision Mathematics - same as the AS level content.
A positive reference from the school attended up to age 16. A minimum of 5 grades at 9-4 at GCSE, including mathematics and English, plus minimum grade requirement for each subject as published. At least a grade 8 in Maths.
There will be regular tests to monitor your progress and revision classes will be available. You will be Assessed as follows: A Level (End of Year 2) Paper 1 (1hr 30 min) 75 marks worth 25% of the exam Paper 2 (1hr 30 min) 75 marks worth 25% of the exam Paper 3 (1hr 30 min) 75 marks worth 25% of the exam Paper 4 (1hr 30 min) 75 marks worth 25% of the exam
