How you'll be assessed

Three papers assess different skills. Paper 1: Listening, Reading and Writing—Listening and responding to spoken passages from a range of contexts and sources covering different registers and adapting as necessary. What is assessed? • Aspects of French, German or Spanish-speaking society, current trends and issues. • Artistic culture in the French, German or Spanish-speaking world. • Aspects of political life in the French, German or Spanish-speaking world. • Grammar. How it is assessed—Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes,100 marks, 50% of A-level. Paper 2: Writing—Two Questions on two of the following: a set film, set text or set play How it is assessed—Written exam: 2 hours, 80 marks in total, 20% of A-level. Paper 3: Speaking—A discussion on a chosen topic followed by a presentation and discussion on a personal research project. What is assessed? • An Individual Research Project (IPR) on a topic chosen by the student. • One of four of the following sub-themes: Aspects of society, current issues, artistic culture and aspects of political life in the French, German or Spanish-speaking world. How it is assessed— Oral exam 21-23 minutes (including 5 minutes preparation time), 60 marks in total, 30% of A-level.
