Course summary

What Will I learn? The theoretical knowledge of the factors that underpin sport: • The understanding of how physiological and psychological responses affect performance • Applied anatomy and exercise physiology • Applied skill acquisition • The biomechanical movement analysis of sports performance • The understanding of the key socio-cultural factors that influence people’s participation • The understanding of how physical activity can improve health and fitness.

Entry requirements

5 Grade 9-4 in GCSE subjects. Grade 5 GCSE in chosen subjects.

How you'll be assessed

A keen interest in sport and participation at competitive level throughout the duration of the A level is a key requirement for this course as students will assessed in a practical performance as a player or a coach (15%) as well as complete a performance analysis and a performance based development plan (15%). Alongside this you be assessed in two written exams, Scientific Principles of Physical Education (40%) and Psychological and Social Principles of Physical.
