This is a two year course where you will analyse a range of texts that look at personal and immediate language contexts. You will then move to how language is placed in its wider social, historical and global contexts and independent study is required. This course will open your eyes to language in the world around you. Students will study the key concepts of audience, purpose, genre and mode and will explore language in its wider social and geographical contexts. Students will study varieties of English within the British Isles. This requires students to study social attitudes to, and debates about, language diversity. You explore how children develop their spoken and written skills. Students will compare how texts represented changes in language (including regional, national and international varieties of English).
English - 5, Maths - 5, 3 additional Grade 4's
Two examinations and NEA
