Year 1 •Aspects of Spanish speaking society – modern and traditional values, cyber society, equal rights •Artistic culture in the Spanish speaking world – idols, regions, cultural heritage •Study of a film •Grammar and vocabulary Year 2 •Multiculturalism in Spanish speaking society – immigration, integration, racism •Political life in the Spanish speaking world – youth, monarchy and republic, popular movements •Study of a book or play •Research on a topic of your own choice •Grammar and vocabulary Languages will enhance any career which operates on an international basis e.g. business, law, sport, culture and science. In fact it can enhance virtually every career.
To study A Level at The South Wolds Academy and Sixth Form you must achieve at least six GCSE passes, two at Grade 6 or above and four at Grade 5 or above You need to be predicted at least a Grade 6 in Spanish, if you achieve a Grade 5 in the results please talk to your Spanish teacher.
Exams are at the end of the second year Paper 1: Listening, reading and translation (50% of marks) Paper 2: Essay each on the film and book/ play (20% of marks) Oral: discussion of one of the above themes and your research topic (30% of marks)
