Course summary

This qualification is designed to embody a fundamentally learner-centered approach to the curriculum, with a flexible, unit-based structure and knowledge applied in project-based assessments. They focus on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education. The objective of this qualification is to give learners the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in IT. Learners study the relationship between hardware and software, managing and communicating information and data, and the principles of designing and developing digital technologies and processes to support organizations. Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Information Technology is a 720 GLH (guided Learning Hours) and is equivalent in size to two A Levels.

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved at least a grade 5 in GCSE across a range of GCSE subjects and a 5 in GCSE English. Studying a computing qualification previously is not a prerequisite for joining the course.
