Course summary

The BTEC business course at Wolverley Sixth Form is interesting and challenging. It will help to develop a range of skills such as; employability skills, critical thinking, problem solving, communication skills, interpersonal skills, working collaboratively, financial planning skills and self-management. A variety of different teaching and learning strategies are used including; practical communication tasks, discussion work, conducting and analysing market research, presentation of plans and findings and problem solving all of which help to develop the skills required to do well in BTEC Business. The course topics may include: Unit 1 coursework - Exploring business Unit 2 Examination - Developing a marketing campaign Unit 3 Examination – Business and personal finance Unit 8 Coursework – Recruitment and selection process

Entry requirements

You should have at least 5 GCSE’s at grade 5 or above, including English and maths. This is a level 3 course, which demands a high level of literacy, numeracy and organisational skills.

How you'll be assessed

BTEC Business is mixture of coursework and exams. Coursework makes up 42% of the qualification. One piece of coursework is completed each year. It is internally assessed and then externally verified. The remaining 58% of the course is made up of two examinations, one taken during each year.
