All 3 Sciences are studied with the emphasis being on practical and investigative skills and their application in the vocational world of Science. During this course, you will: • Study scientific principles associated with the application of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in a vocational context. • Practice experimental and practical techniques associated with applied Science and explore how they are applied in industry. • Explore the roles and skills of scientists and the public and media perception of Science. • Practice the skills required for independent learning and development. • Develop skills of project-based research, development, and presentation. • Apply mathematical and ICT skills to vocational Scientific scenarios. • Explore ways in which topical scientific issues are presented in the media. • Investigate the role of scientists and the different career pathways open to them.
Students currently studying a BTEC/Applied course require a Merit to proceed onto the Level 3 course, in addition to 4 other GCSEs 9-4 To undertake a Level 3 BTEC/Applied Course without having previously studied the subject in Year 11, 5 GCSE grades 9-4 are required.
