Year 12 AS topics: • Topic 1: Biological Molecules • Topic 2: Cells • Topic 3: Organisms exchange substances with their environment • Topic 4: Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms Year 13 A2 topics: • Topic 5: Energy transfers in and between organisms • Topic 6: Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments • Topic 7: Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems Throughout this course you will have the opportunity to develop the following skills: • Confidence in carrying out and evaluating practicals. • An ability to notice and understand links between different areas of Science. • Debating controversial topics • Critiquing of scientific articles
A grade 6 in Triple Biology or a grade 66 in Combined Science and a grade 6 in Maths.
There are three external exams sat in May/June at the end of year 13 and 12 core practicals internally assessed throughout the two years. The external exams are: • Paper 1: Topics 1-4 (35%) • Paper 2: Topics 5-8 (35%) • Paper 3: Topics 1-8 (30%)
