
The A level Further Mathematics course includes work on Pure Maths, Statistics and Mechanics. The key skills are observing and recording together with the discovery and experimentation of techniques and materials. This is accompanied by critical research and opinion, composition and creativity with ideas together with presenting solutions. Many of the skills developed in A Level Mathematics are extended and enriched in Further Mathematics. The application of Mathematics to real life situations is explored in much more depth.
5 GCSEs graded 9 – 4, including English (grade 4+) and Mathematics (grade 6+).
There are four terminal papers: Core pure maths papers 1 and 2 and two applied papers on further statistics and decision maths. All papers are 1 hour 30 minutes in length and all equally weighted.
