Course summary

NCFE CACHE T Level Technical Qualification in Education and Childcare will train students to the highest standards and will provide them with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to progress directly into employment or Higher Education. We have a proven track record of success in both employment and University places for our students. This Level 3 qualification prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5-7 years. The course runs over 2 years and incorporates mandatory work experience, with year 1 based around working in a nursery setting with children from birth to 5 years and year 2 based at primary school within reception class and year 1. There are 10 core components as well as Subject Specialism content based on placement practice which requires direct observation in a working environment. Regular assessments are carried out during each term to assess skills and performance as per qualification requirements. Knowledge and understanding are checked through 2 exams based on knowledge gained within the core components in year one and 2 mandatory externally marked controlled assessments, one in the first year and one in the second year. A combination of marks achieved from these are used to calculate the overall grade for the qualification. Students are required to have a love of working with children in what is a busy and exciting environment. They will need to have a strong work ethic and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Students are required to communicate and interact with children, also to plan and implement age-appropriate activities to support the Early Years curriculum, and work as part of the setting team. On completion of the qualification, students can enter the Early Years workforce or access Higher Education. Many students progress onto a Degree in Primary Education, Early Childhood Studies, or a Foundation Degree in Early Years, however, there are many other Higher Education or employment options available.

Entry requirements

Students require 5 Grade 4 or above at GCSE or equivalent, which must include English and Mathematics. Students will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check as part of the placement practice requirements.
