Course summary

You will have the chance to explore iconic periods in History through research, analysis and debate. You will consider the challenges to the Tudor dynasty and the turbulence of the changes made by successive monarchs. You will also assess the nature of the ‘American Dream’ by looking at the roles of post - war presidents in areas like Civil Rights, Foreign Relations and their actions during the Cold War. Through considering debates such as America’s role in Vietnam and the impact of the individuals like Martin Luther King you will develop both analytical and evaluative skills. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to fully research and investigate a chosen topic in History during our coursework unit.

Entry requirements

5 grade 4s across all GCSE subjects which must include a grade 4 in either GCSE English or Mathematics. Grade 6 in GCSE History or 6 in GCSE English.
