Course summary

If you choose to pursue a BTEC in sport then you are a learner who enjoys hands-on, practical work with plenty of real-life situations to get stuck into. You will enjoy learning about Physical Education and Sports in depth, gaining knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and fitness. You will develop leadership skills and become aware of the career opportunities within the sports industry. Year 12 Unit 1 - Anatomy and Physiology Unit 4 - Sports Leadership Year 13 Unit 2 - Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Wellbeing Unit 3 - Professional Development in the Sports Industry

Entry requirements

Students need to have achieve at least 3 grade 5’s and 2 grade 4’s at GCSE level. A Grade 4 in GCSE English Language, a Grade 5 in GCSE Physical Education / Merit in BTEC Sport / WJEC PE.

How you'll be assessed

In Year 12, Sports students will be entered for their first unit exam at the end of the year. This gives us adequate time to prepare you for the requirements needed to achieve well. You will attend three exam lessons per week and will be given topic booklets, past papers, and access to wider reading to help prepare you. In the other two lessons per week, you will learn about Sport Leadership and apply that knowledge with the completion of coursework.
