Course summary

The study of Level 3 Sport allows learners to understand about the broad concept of sport and the theoretical elements that are integrated to a large part of our culture and society. The course starts with the focus of Anatomy and Physiology, this part of the course is very scientific and requires an understanding of the functions of the four major systems in the human body and how they are effected during exercise. In the diploma option students will study 6 mandatory units which cover: 1- Anatomy & Physiology (EC) 2- Fitness Training and Programming (EC) 3- Professional Development in Sport 4- Sports Leadership 5- Investigating business in Sport 6- Skill Acquisition.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4, including Maths and English. Students who studied GCSE PE would have a distinct advantage.

How you'll be assessed

These units will be spread across two years for the diploma course, through a variety of assessments including an examination for the A&P unit in year 12 and an external synoptic assessment for the Fitness Training Unit in year 13 and with several other units being assessment through internal assignment based tasks.
