If you are interested why people commit crime or behave in a deviant way, the social reaction to crime, how crime is prevented and punished, the effectiveness of crime prevention, criminals and victims then criminology will interest you. The course is well suited to be combined with sociology and psychology. This is a vocationally related qualification and an alternative to traditional A Levels.
Unit 1 and unit 3 are both internally assessed, that means that you will be assessed in the classroom. Unit 2 and unit 4 are assessed externally through a summer examination. All units carry the same weight and are combined to give an overall grade. The examinations are 90 minutes long and require students to answer both short and extended questions. Questions require students to apply their knowledge of criminology to a scenario.
