The topics in Modern Foreign Languages are chosen to appeal to young people. Our aim is to stimulate interest and discussion about issues and trends related to the target language-speaking countries and communities. These issues are varied and may be social, political, intellectual, and/or artistic in nature, but will always aim to develop a deeper understanding of the speakers’ cultures. You will of course be working with up-to-date materials including newspaper articles, magazines, and online publications. A structured program of grammar runs throughout the course, to enable you to produce accurate written and spoken language. In all three languages literature and film are key features of the A level. These are chosen from a list of set texts including both classic and modern works. German set texts include: Kafka die Verwandlng, Dürrenmatt der Besuch der alten Dame, Schlink der Vorleser Films: Goodbye Lenin, Lola rennt, Das Leben der Anderen
GCSE in the language, grade 7 or above (or equivalent).
