A level of Physics is divided into six teaching modules which are context-led. • Module 1: Development of practical skills in Physics. • Module 2: Foundations in Physics. • Module 3: Forces and motion. • Module 4: Electrons, waves, and photons. • Module 5: Newtonian world and astrophysics. • Module 6: Particles and medical physics. Physics is a facilitating subject for entry into the Russell Group of universities. By choosing a facilitating subject you will have the largest choice of degree courses further down the line.
9-4 grades (or equivalent) in at least five GCSE subjects (please note that double awards, BTECs etc. are still counted by subject). A minimum of grade 4 (or equivalent) in both GCSE English and Mathematics. A-level Sciences require at least grade 6/6 Double Science. A grade 6+ in GCSE Maths is desirable.
Modules 1, 2, 3, and 4 are covered in Year 12. Module 1 is completed in Year 13 along with modules 5 and 6. All six modules of work are assessed in the A Level examinations.
