Course summary

It is an exciting time to be a computer scientist! We are living amid a revolution powered by computers. This revolution has invaded all aspects of society. It is a communication revolution, a transport revolution, a medical revolution, an entertainment revolution. Consider the things you would be capable of with the expertise of Programming. Over the two years, you will learn about the fundamentals of Programming, Data Structures, Algorithms, Theory of Computation, Data Representation, Computer Systems, Computer Organisation and Architecture, Communication and Networking, Databases, and the Legal, Moral, Cultural, and Ethical issues that we face from computer use. You will also complete an independent programming project where you interact with real-world clients, develop working solutions, and evaluate programs.

Entry requirements

Achieve five grade 5s or above including English Language and Mathematics Grade 6 in GCSE Computer Science or Maths

Unit 1 - Computing Systems Written exam - 2 hours 30 minutes - 40% Unit 2 - Algorithms and Programming Written exam - 2 hours 30 minutes - 40% Unit 3 - Programming Project NEA - 20%
