The course involves gaining theoretical background knowledge and the opportunity to apply it to real life situations. As a vocational subject the focus is very much on going into the world of work. HSC is all about dealing with individuals. It is broken down into the following areas: Unit 1: Human Lifespan Development. Mandatory Exam (Jan and June sittings). Unit 2: Working in Health and Social Care. Mandatory Exam (Jan and June sittings). Unit 5: Meeting Individual and Support Needs. Mandatory Coursework. Plus optional units dependent on other option choices such as: psychological or sociological perspectives or safe practises.
