Course summary

There are a wide range of career opportunities across all sectors of Health, Social Care and Children & Young People. The course will equip you with the skills you need for either university or work, and is a first step towards a career in any of these areas. The subject is taught by enthusiastic and committed staff who bring out the best in the students. The O.C.R. Level 3 Diploma is a two year course that consists of 7 mandatory units, plus 5 optional units and is broadly equivalent to two A Levels. Students will be required to carry out two weeks of work experience in a related setting during this course. This course requires a commitment to the full two year programme as final accreditation is not available until the end of Year 13.

Entry requirements

The minimum entry requirements for Level 3 applied courses apply. The minimum entry requirements for students who wish to study BTEC or CTEC qualifications or a mix of BTEC/CTEC qualifications and Applied A Levels is the equivalent of at least 5 subjects at Grade 4+, including English Language or Literature Grade 4+

How you'll be assessed

Students are assessed through their portfolio of 3 pieces of coursework taken under controlled assessment conditions in school plus 3 examinations in January and June.
