You should consider this course if you have an interest in sport and the intention of extending your education or career in sport. The course has a vocational focus giving an insight into, and experience of, a wide range of the skills required to work in the sport and active leisure industry.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 4. Grade 5 in English and Maths and Grade 6 in PE or at least a Level 2 Merit in OCR National Sport or BTEC Sport.
The course is assessed through a combination of formal examination and internally assessed coursework. There are externally assessed units (exams), the remaining units being written or practical coursework which is internally assessed externally moderated. Students will be subject to continuous assessment of a portfolio of work throughout the two-year course. The vocational nature of the subject allows for a good deal of practical work and assessment in certain units. Units are gained at either Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction* level. It is the intention of the PE department that coursework units will be completed to Distinction level.
