Chemistry explains the behavior of all the materials around us from the strength of the bricks which enable our houses to stand up, to the fuel which keeps our houses warm and powers cars, trains, buses, and airplanes. Chemistry keeps our bodies moving and produces drugs to make us healthy and clothes to protect us from the weather. Chemistry produces detergents to clean clothes, people, houses, and many other things. Chemistry causes pollution and then helps to counteract it. Chemistry not only helps you understand the world, but it also opens up a world of opportunities.
Achieve five grade 5s or above including English Language and Mathematics Grade 7 achieved in Double Science or 7 achieved in Chemistry. Grade 6 in English and Maths.
Students will be assessed at the end of the 2-year course over 3 exams covering content from both years (modules 1-6). Periodic Table, Elements and Physical Chemistry, and Synthesis & Analytical Techniques both carry 37% and are worth 100 marks; Unified Chemistry carries 26% and is worth 70 marks.
