The study of English Language and Literature will require you to develop as an informed, independent reader, writer and critic. You will explore the relationships between texts and the contexts within which they are written, received and understood. You will be encouraged to debate and challenge the interpretations of other readers. Teachers will help you refine such essential skills as the ability to break down complex information and identify significant themes, imagery and character traits or emotions. Learning will also centre around investigations which draw connections between texts drawing out patterns of similarity and difference.
