In the first autumn term alone, you will master the use of the four SUVAT equations to solve problems within linear motion, whilst also leaning the particles and anti-particles that constitute our current model of matter in the observable universe. Recent A-level physics students have also participated in extra-curricular events, such as: a lecture on the existence of dark matter from Dr Sam Henry, a CERN and University of Oxford (Hertford College) particle physicist; and a seminar hosted by Kitty Oldford, a recent BSc Physics graduate from Torquay embarking on a career developing SONAR. In Year 12 you will learn the following content: 1. Particles and Radiation 2. Waves and Optics 3. Mechanics 4. Electricity In Year 13 you will learn the following content: 1. Further mechanics 2. Fields 3. Nuclear Radiation 4. Practical Skills in Physics 5. Turning Points in Physics There are nine modules of study across the two year. Each module consists of a variety of required practicals.
