If you enjoy reading literature and have a passion for exploring how the language influences texts then English Language and Literature A Level will offer you interest and challenge. The variety of assessment styles used, such as re-creative writing, commentary writing, discursive essays, and research-based investigative writing, allows students to develop a wide range of skills. These include the ability to read critically, analyze, evaluate, and undertake independent research, which is invaluable for both further study and future employment.
At least 5 subjects at grade 4-9/L2P-D* including: Grade 6 in English.
There are two end-of-course examinations, each one accounting for 40% of the overall marks, and one piece of coursework: • Paper 1: Telling Stories • Paper 2: Exploring Conflict • A non-examined assessment of texts of your choosing. 50 marks (20%)
