Course summary

This course will provide you with transferable knowledge and skills that prepare you for progression to university. The transferable skills that universities value include the ability to learn independently, the ability to research actively and methodically, to be able to give presentations and to be active group members. This course will enable you to benefit from opportunities for deep learning where you are able to make connections among units and select areas of interest for detailed study. Topics that you will study include Anatomy and Physiology, Equality, Diversity and Rights, Research Methods, Sexual Health, Reproduction and Early Development Stages, Safeguarding, Promoting Health and Wellbeing. You will consider the real impacts on people living with conditions or illnesses such as the social, financial, and psychological impacts, not just the signs, symptoms, and treatment of faceless conditions or illnesses. You will also learn about the legislation and guidance supporting health and social care so that you can ensure that people you are working with are not only able to access all the care and support they are entitled to but are also able to protect themselves from any harm or abuse.

Entry requirements

Other Desirable Qualifications / Combinations: GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above, otherwise will be added to your program of study.
