A-level business is the study of the application of business concepts through an active understanding of the subject, there is a focus on entrepreneurship, customer service, emerging markets, globalization, and migration. The course will help to develop a range of important and transferable skills such as data management, evaluating evidence, planning, and conducting research.
You should have a minimum grade 4 in English literature or language and maths. You must be passionate about exploring business and keeping abreast of current affairs. Business Studies at GCSE is helpful but not a necessity. Studying core maths alongside Business Studies helps you develop skills that will support the quantitative aspects of the course, such as: interpreting numerical and graphical information to make decisions, use budgets and measure profitability.
At the end of Year 13 you will take three examinations, which cover the content from both years. These will include multiple choice questions, short answer questions, data response questions, longer essay questions and a case study followed by questions.
