Words create worlds, both in literature and elsewhere. Engaging creatively and critically with a wide range of texts, this course allows candidates to explore the similarities and differences between prose, poetry and drama but also beyond this to non-fiction texts that do not get as much attention: personal letters, spontaneous speech, and multimedia texts. Students also develop skills not only as interpreters of language but also as producers by creating texts themselves and critically reflecting on their processes of production.
A minimum of a grade 6 in English literature or language.
The qualification is assessed by examination at the end of year 13.
