The qualification develops students’ ability to apply and integrate linguistic and literary approaches to a wide range of spoken and written texts. The texts are from different periods and include prose, poetry, drama and nonliterary texts. All learners will undertake an independent study. They will be able to pursue a particular interest and develop their expertise through an analytical comparative essay on one non-fiction set text (selected from a list of twelve) and a second text of their own choosing. They will also have the opportunity to produce a piece or original non-fiction writing in a particular genre.
- Grade 6 in English Language or Literature at GCSE - 5 grade 5’s or more at GCSE (or equivalent qualifications) including English and Maths.
