Sports Studies
Course summary

Students will complete four Units over the two years. The assessments will be external and internal and will look to develop the students’ knowledge, understanding and application of skills that will be developed over the course. Some lessons will be taught practically, developing performance and critically evaluating application and validity of physical exercise. This development will allow students to plan future pathways for themselves.

Entry requirements

- Grade 4 in GCSE PE. - Distinction or Merit in L2 BTEC Sport - You must participate or have representative honours in a sport or activity. - A minimum of 5 GCSEs graded at 4 or above. - English Language or Maths GCSE graded at 4 or above. - An average GCSE points score of 4, or more, gleaned from all GCSE examinations undertaken by the pupil.

Year 12 Component 1: Anatomy and Physiology Written Examination (90 Min external exams) 25% of overall grade 80 Marks Year 12 Component 7: Practical Sports Performance Internal Coursework 25% of qualification 60 GL hours
