There are three main areas of study: • Pure mathematics • Statistics • Mechanics • A full set of workbooks will be provided to support students and act as revision materials.
A minimum of grade 5 (although a grade 6 or above is desirable) in GCSE mathematics and five GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English. A booklet of work containing essential skills is available for students to help ease the transition from GCSE to A level will be provided, and it is expected to be completed for those who achieve a grade 5 or 6 at GCSE in mathematics.
Whilst some students may wish to take the AS level at the end of Year 12, the vast majority of students will continue onto the full A level at the end of the second year of study for formal examination in June 2019.
