Students will study the following: • Further Mechanics and Thermal Physics • Fields and their Consequences • Nuclear Physics Plus one from the following options: • Astrophysics • Medical Physics • Engineering Physics • Turning Points in Physics • Electronics
Minimum of 5 Grade 5 (new grading structure) at GCSE or equivalent with English and 6 in Maths. At least a grade 6 in GCSE Physics or Combined Science is the minimum requirement. Mathematics at A level is recommended alongside Physics.
The course will be assessed via three written papers including relevant practical skills: Paper 1: 2 hours long consisting of 85 marks (60 marks: Short and long answer questions and 25 marks: Multiple choice questions). Paper 2: 2 hours long consisting of 85 marks(60 marks: Short and long answer questions and 25 marks: Multiple choice questions). Paper 3: 2 hours long consisting of 80 marks (45 marks: short and long answer questions on practical and data analysis and 35 marks: short and long answer questions on the option unit).
