Course summary

History has rightly been described as an ‘argument without end'. It offers no fixed answers but some insight into what it is to be a human being and real training in logical thought, data-handling and the attractive expression of ideas. It is also great fun. You will study Greek and Roman history, the views of ancient historians and how the ancient world was viewed by them. We will be looking at a period of at least 75 years and the in-depth study will look at social, economic, political, cultural, religious, technological and military factors involved in a particular event or situation.
